Is Test Cricket dead ? 'No' for sure is the answer !

Are you also amongst the lot that believes that test cricket is dead ? If thats the case then i think you seriously need a reconsideration..

Granted, some Test Matches can be dull, with poor results, and sleep being the only thing on the agenda. However, people who can say that Test Match cricket is heading back to boring, dull matches shows that they clearly haven't been watching many of the more recent matches.

Not goin too far in history just look at the day's play between India and Srilanka or for that matter this whole series !!
Or the last ashes too..They all have matches that can make u glued to the TV for hours and enjoy it..
Be it Sehwag's great batting or Bhajji's spin or Dhoni's century alongside the tailenders supporting him. All were a real spectacle !!

Who wouldn't agree if i say that a test match is the real form of Cricket?. It puts to test a batsmen's patience n skill, a bowlers perseverance n determination and is a better test of any captain's thoughts n strategies.
The problem is that both the Control boards and the spectators have been neglecting the format n hence its getting less commercial success. BCCI fr that matter seem to be concentrating only on 20-20 matches n making more money and same is being done by all other boards.

This problem has increased with the more One Day and Twenty-twenty matches that are being played, with the fast scoring runs, fast falling wickets, and the fun and crazy atmosphere's at the grounds. But till where i think the Twenty-twenty matches, whilst highly enjoyable, can be seen as non proper cricket.
The damaging and lasting effect that this has already and will continue to have on Test Match and for day cricket is apparent.

Will Test Match Cricket ever be left alone?
Probably not, due solely to the increase on the shortened version of the game, with the recent IPL and ICL causing talk of ACLs and ECLs, and with the success of the Twenty20 World Cup.
The pressure on exciting Test Match cricket has been increased, but as long as the teams play Test Match cricket, there will always be drama, and there will always be upsets.

Test cricket offers the luxury of variety, of leisure, of not always bowing down to what you want.

Only True lovers of the longest format will recognise this and the rest, well, they will complain no matter what.

What women speak and what they actually mean !!

Here is a funny but somewhat true translation of female language i found out on net n compiled !!

Translations of the Female Language from their perspective

  • Fine: This is the word we use at the end of any argument that we feel we are right about but need to shut you up. NEVER use Fine to describe how a woman looks. This will cause you to have one of those arguments.

  • Five minutes: This is half an hour. It is equivalent to the five
minutes that your football game is going to last before you take out the trash, so it's an even trade.

  • Nothing: This means something, and you should be on your toes.
Nothing is usually used to describe the feeling a woman has of wanting to turn you inside out, upside down, and backwards.
Nothing usually signifies an argument that will last Five Minutes and end with the word Fine.

  • Go Ahead (with raised eyebrows): This is a dare. One that will result in a woman getting upset over Nothing and will end with the word Fine.

  • Go Ahead (normal eyebrows): This means "I give up" or Do what you want, because I don't care. You will get a raised eyebrow Go ahead in just a few minutes, followed by Nothing and Fine and she will talk to you in about Five Minutes when she cools off.

  • Loud Sigh: This is not actually a word, but is still often a verbal
statement very misunderstood by men. A Loud Sigh means she thinks you are an idiot at that moment and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over Nothing.

  • Soft sigh: Again, not a word, but a verbal statement. Soft Sighs are one of the few things that some men actually understand. She is content. Your best bet is to not move or breathe, and she will stay content.

  • Oh: This word followed by any statement is trouble. Example: "Oh, let me get that." Or, "Oh, I talked to him about what you were doing last night." If she says Oh before a statement, RUN, do not walk, to the nearest exit. She will tell you that she is Fine when she is done tossing your clothes out the window, but do not expect her to talk to you for at least 2 days. Oh, as the lead to a sentence, usually signifies that you are caught in a lie. Do not try to lie more to get out of it, or you will get raised eyebrows Go ahead followed by acts so unspeakable that we can't bring ourselves to write about them.

  • That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements that a woman can say to a man. That's Okay means that she wants to think long and hard before paying you retributions for whatever it is that you have done. That's Okay is often used with the word "Fine" and used in conjunction with a raised eyebrow Go ahead. At some point in the near future when she has plotted and planned, you are going to be in some mighty big trouble.

  • Please Do: This is not a statement; it is an offer. A woman is giving you the chance to come up with whatever excuse or reason you have for doing whatever it is that you have done. You have a fair chance to tell the truth, so be careful, and you shouldn't get a That's Okay.

  • Thanks: A woman is thanking you. Do not faint; just say you're welcome.

  • "Thanks a lot": This is much different from Thanks. A woman will say, Thanks a lot when she is really ticked off at you. It signifies that you have hurt her in some callous way, and will be followed by the Loud Sigh. Be careful not to ask what is wrong after the Loud Sigh, as she will only tell you Nothing.
  • Are todays ads - advertisements or infotainments?

Once when I was home during holiday (That doesnt happen very much if u are a VITian), my sister called me aloud. She was watching the television and wanted to show me an interesting advertisement. Yes, I did enjoy it. It was the famous Hutch wala dog back in action...replacing the zoozoo(which i personally didnt like neway! i love that pug)
Getting back to my work, I realized how much we look ahead to these ads for the entertainment they provide. At college and everywhere around, I have found television advertisements being talked about with much deep-rooted interest. Yes, they do influence us too.
However low we may think of these advertisements and that they dont affect our shopping lists but the truth is they really do..Cmon who wont agree that the cute Dog in the hutch ad switched fortunes for Hutchisson essar inc. or that Hrithik roshan has finally added some postivity in the balance sheet of the once infamous cheap brand cinthol..!! In most of the cases, the shopping sensibility is guided more by the credibility of the ads rather than the products. It is the value or significance associated to the products by the T.V ads that sells the product.

Today, ads have grown much beyond the dimensions of marketing, flowering into a full-fledged popular culture.Advertisements are being viewed for the entertainment value that they offer. It is the entertainment part of the ads that appeals to a larger group of viewers, especially youngsters.
A viewer of television ads will not miss recognizing them as Infotainment. These, at times, cease to exist as entertainments alone. The creative elements of ads hold the attention of the viewers. The ads of virgin mobile, mentos, surf excel, happydent white are just a few to name.
The language, dresses, hairstyles, music, lifestyle, etc promoted by these ads come to be recognised as the status quo. The phrases, music, dialogues, mannerisms and concepts employed and propagated by the ads could be seen reflecting in the day-to-day life of an average Indian. References of these television ads in movies, serials and even real life talks, show the continuum. Upon this, the greatest impact that these ads are making upon the viewers is the effect on their very life style.

Advertisements are emerging as a popular art form, thereby influencing the marketing strategies and promoting consumerism. Next time you sit in front of the television, just check how much time you devote for advertisements and how much you enjoy it.

Arent we too dependent of gadgets !!

Well here comes saturday ! the most awaited day of the week for us...isnt it?
nothing can be more merry than having such a wonderful overcast weather around, having nothing to do, no assignments, no test n no tesions whtsoever !!
me with my friends just had a thought of having a wonderful snack and boiled some pasta - but, it was the worst i had ever eaten !! none of us is good at cooking things i guess ! Coming to my thought fr today, one amongst those frnz only who were involved in killing tht pasta is Varun, he only put this thought in my mind. Why? well because he just had a bad virus in his laptop n tht has destroyed his vista ! His computer is no more than dead to him till monday, whn it hopefully will get repaired..
Just the thought of not having his laptop around has driven him crazy !
All he is thinkin now is tht how will he pass his time ? how is gonna play DOTA now ? How will he entertain himself through the day ? How is he gonna pass his saturday ? he must hv started hating the 'beloved' saturday. All of us are on the same thought whr he is...neither of us would be willing to give him Our's just bcoz of the same reasons !
Thts what made me think tht are we not too dependent on these things ? why the hell cat we live a day without our laptop or cellphone, Ipod or PSPs...?
Cant we frenz gather together n talk n have fun like tht...is it necessary to be playin on a laptop while we are together?
we could have sat together, talk, play cards or smthng...even outdoors wouldnt be such a bad idea ! but nobody of us is gonna do tht...
poor him..he will keep on tryin to repair it n we will keep ourselves busy in ourselves n this box !
i think we all have left the socialising part of our lives...or maybe not totally !! after all we have facebook n myspace n orkut fr tht...on our beloved internet n our buddy laptop
Im already thinkin of leaving this thing n goin to be with my buddies for a game of poker!
mayBe everyone of us can try to spend one day in a week as a gadget-free-day ! naah..thts gonna be tough !
    once a month ? a year ?
it all seems impossible isnt it ?
